For Mackinac Island has been classified as a state historic park no form of camping is licensed there. But enjoy the camping experience visitor can visit the adjacent mainland camping sites in St. Ignace and Mackinaw city. There are several world class camping sites around Mackinac Island as Mackinac Mills Creek Camping site which is located adjacent to the Grand Hotel and the Mills Discovery Park.

The Mackinac Mills Creek Camping has a lot to offer as tents for all campers, all types of recreational vehicles for individual, twin or family camping. It also has heated swimming pool, retail stores, an arcade, cyber café, a basketball court, and playgrounds for children, ablution block for all ages and sexes. It is also endowed with a more than one mile of beach that overlooks the Mackinac Island and other towns in the vicinity.  For alternative accommodation the Mackinac Mills creek campsite has cottages and cabins for rental purposes. The package to the campsite also includes a round free ferry ticket hence you enjoy costs cuts. During your camping here you will also enjoy taking walks, cycling and skating thus you time will be well spent.

Another popular camping site is the Mackinaw city camping site where you are sure to meet many different people from the city and the other Mackinac area visitors. Here you will enjoy several activities as skiing, walking trails, whitewater games on the Sturgeon River, golf, shopping and food sampling in the nearby hotels and restaurant. In this camping site, there are no much accommodation options available thus you can enjoy the camping events as you lodge in the hotel in its proximity. All the shopping can be done in the city or the nearby St. Ignace.

In total the Michigan area boasts of over fourteen hundred campsites thus you will not miss a place to camp. Most of them are secure and you will undertake all the camping activities even in the night without fear.
